Unlike residential models, industrial models are essential in the process of designing and optimizing industrial facilities, as they provide a very clear perspective on how they operate. Thus, engineers and designers use models to be able to evaluate the efficiency of processes, to plan the distribution of space and to identify potential problems before construction begins.
French biotechnology start-up Carbios has developed an enzymatic process for recycling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) back into its constituent monomers, from which new plastic can be produced with the same properties as virgin material. Carbios’ plant is currently under construction in Longlaville, France – a strategic location to access nearby waste supplies from Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg
